Marichelle Defensor-Jiloca brings extensive international experience in corporate law, having worked in the Philippines, Singapore and Canada.
Marichelle was a qualified lawyer in the Philippines. She worked at one of the largest shipping companies in Manila as Manager, Corporate Affairs and Administration. She then practiced law as an associate and taught part-time as a professor of insurance law. She also worked as a Legal Executive for a law firm in Singapore that specialized in intellectual property.
In Canada, Marichelle obtained her certificate of qualification from the National Committee on Accreditation of the Federation of Law Societies of Canada. Prior to joining BKS Law, she worked in the legal department of a large group of companies and with several of the largest law firms as a senior paralegal. She completed various aspects of general corporate and commercial matters, initial structuring and reorganizations, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance matters.
Outside of work, Marichelle enjoys karaoke and trying out different cuisines. She loves to go for long walks with friends and spend time with her husband and two children.
